Date: 20 Mar 2023
Having clean and sparkling windows can make a huge difference in the appearance of your home or office. Clean windows allow more light in and make the space feel fresher and more inviting. But when it comes to cleaning windows, many people struggle to get them streak-free and looking their best. In this blog post, we will share the best way to clean your windows, step-by-step.
Step 1: Gather Your Supplies
Before you start cleaning your windows, you will need to gather the necessary supplies. Here is what you will need:
- Bucket
- Squeegee
- Microfiber cloth or lint-free towel
- Cleaning solution
- Scrubber or sponge
When choosing a cleaning solution, you have a few options. You can use a store-bought window cleaner, or you can make your own using vinegar and water. To make your own cleaning solution, mix equal parts vinegar and water in a spray bottle.
Step 2: Remove Dirt and Debris
The first step in cleaning your windows is to remove any dirt or debris. Use a scrubber or sponge to gently scrub the window, starting at the top and working your way down. Be sure to get into the corners and edges to remove any stubborn dirt or grime. If you have a lot of dirt on your windows, you may need to rinse your scrubber or sponge in the bucket of water periodically to avoid smearing dirt around.
Step 3: Apply Cleaning Solution
Once you have removed any dirt or debris, it's time to apply the cleaning solution. Spray the solution onto the window, starting at the top and working your way down. Be sure to spray enough to cover the entire window, but don't oversaturate the glass.
Step 4: Use Squeegee to Remove Cleaning Solution
After applying the cleaning solution, it's time to use the squeegee to remove it. Start at the top of the window and pull the squeegee down in a straight line. Wipe the blade of the squeegee with a cloth after each stroke to avoid streaks. Repeat this process until you have removed all of the cleaning solution from the window.
Step 5: Dry the Window with a Microfiber Cloth or Lint-Free Towel
After removing the cleaning solution, it's time to dry the window. Use a microfiber cloth or lint-free towel to wipe the window, starting at the top and working your way down. Be sure to get into the corners and edges to remove any remaining moisture. If you notice any streaks, use the squeegee again to remove them.
Step 6: Repeat on the Other Side of the Window
If your windows have two sides, repeat steps 2-5 on the other side of the window.
Tips for Cleaning Your Windows:
Choose the Right Time: It's best to clean your windows on a cloudy day or in the early morning or late afternoon. Cleaning windows in direct sunlight can cause the cleaning solution to dry too quickly, leaving streaks.
Don't Use Paper Towels: Avoid using paper towels to dry your windows as they can leave behind lint and streaks. Instead, use a microfiber cloth or lint-free towel.
Avoid Using Harsh Chemicals: Harsh chemicals can damage your windows and may be harmful to your health. Stick to mild cleaning solutions like vinegar and water or a store-bought window cleaner.
Use a Squeegee: A squeegee is the best tool for removing cleaning solution from your windows. It's quick and efficient and leaves windows streak-free.
Clean Your Windows Regularly: The more often you clean your windows, the easier it will be to keep them looking their best. Aim to clean your windows at least twice a year, or more frequently
